2 Days 1 Night Amazing Getaway at Sky High Genting Highlands @ Chin Swee Caves Temple (Part 3)

This was my 2nd time, visiting this beautiful temple, as continued from my post 2. After the splendid and extravagant dinner (post 2), the next morning, we headed inside the casino for a more economic but less tantalising breakfast. Yup, my parents knew their places well.  As you can see from the pic, they were okay with the bowl of noodles, with amazing portion.

2 Days 1 Night Amazing Getaway at Sky High Genting Highlands @ Burger & Lobster, Sky Avenue (Part 2)

Continued from my post 1, one of the greatest highlights in my 2-days-1-night getaway at Genting Highlands was our visit to the Burger & Lobster @ Sky Avenue! I would say they are clever enough to open this restaurant at Sky High Genting Highlands, where you could not find elsewhere in Malaysia, unless you would head overseas for it which is very unlikely. I told my parents and aunt that actually, I had my taste of the Burger & Lobster in London, which was quite good (I yet to have time to blog on that) but quite pricey (about 20 pounds). They were all fine with it!

2 Days 1 Night Amazing Getaway at Sky High Genting Highlands @ Genting Premium Outlet & Sky Avenue, Pahang (Part 1)

To be honest, Genting Highlands really have no much appeal to Ipoh Boy (who has ventured across the West and East, LOL, not bragging ). But, since my parents were the member of the Sky Avenue Casino, they were offered two free rooms! Therefore, since I am currently unemployed a free thinker [Do hope that you all support my ads a bit, kekekeke], I could join them and my aunt as the drebar (Driver in Malay). And, seriously, the newly opened and renovated Sky Avenue Genting Highlands, really changed my perspective after my recent visit! Yes, it has become very international!

How to be a winner tip#5: 100 Year Doraemon Exhibition 2014 @ Viva Home

Damn, another very outdated post, which I was supposed to post like 3 years ago! But, it was kinda sweet to see some old memories popping up suddenly. Actually, I kinda have forgotten about this event, until my Google Photo reminded me (3 Years AGO). Then, I think what the heck, just post this and attract viewers la! (Like my previous winning post on Chilam Crazy Hour Concert Winner). Indeed, 2014 was such as colourful year, as some much had happened!

Revisiting Kei Dak Sek (KTZ) Dessert (记得吃) @ Kepong Baru 2017

Many many years ago, I brought my parents to this hidden jewel in Kepong (which was not really well-known back then), like about 6 year ago. Ever since, whenever my parents hear of Kepong, they would always mention about the 杂雪 (Ice Kacang in Ipohrian Cantonese), or 杂冰 (Ice Kacang in KL Cantonese). You see, the cultural difference even in the same country, but, that just made us, Malaysians, unique in our own way! (Anyway, Ipoh Cantonese rocks!). LOL~ This time around, we re-visited this Kei Dak Sek (记得吃)or Remember to Eat Dessert Shop in Kepong Baru.

Malaysia's Animals Deserve Better: Animal Welfare Acts 2015

In case, you stumble upon any animal abuse cases, please contact the phone number above!!!! For full contact of respective states, please check in the article.

Ipoh Boy has been constantly sharing life events and food. But, today, it just feels right to write about this, on strays in Malaysia. Not long before I started to remember as a child, my big family owned 2 dogs, when I was barely 3 years old, still lived in my kampung (Village in Malay). Indeed, it actually moulded and fostered an inseparable relationship between me and canines.

Fast forward to 25 years later, my family and I moved away from my old kampung, but we still rear three beautiful girls in our house. But over the years, we lost several babies in our lives, due to old age, poisonous animal attack and runaway "brides". I still vividly remembered the law in Malaysia seriously neglected the welfare of the strays and pets in Malaysia streets. Just see the several severe cases happened recently below:

The Truth of Annabelle, Top 4 Reasons of Good & Bad! [Spoiler Alert]

You don't have to be a believer, to love horror/ghost movie. If you like the suspense, dark twisted anxiety, screaming to the rooftop shock, and etc, maybe Annabelle: The Creation, supposed a prequel to Annabelle 2014, might not be your best choice. Because the movie went in-depth with emotions and a pretty slow tempo to eventually creating a daring yet predictable confrontation.

Wondermama X, Half Wonderwoman @ Avenue K Kuala Lumpur

It is very often not fair to judge a franchise as a whole. A recent news of the closing of Tim Ho Wan, was pretty much shocking because as a Michelin-Starred restaurant, it was expected to succeed in Malaysia. The KL branches (under different management) were closed while the Malacca outlet was retained. Anyhow, that's why I always put in the outlet that I have tasted in my review article, because not every franchise is good or sometimes, they are very different!

The Big Escapade Plan to Krabi

[Amazing view of the Krabi Beach, taken from Wikipedia]

Years have gone by since I travel, I need to plan a big escapade to a nice island. Sea, beaches, sun and sand, sum up what I think of Krabi (My next destination perhaps). As my parents are heading to this island later this year, I am actually helping them to do bookings and check itinerary for 5 days 4 nights, which I can use later for myself! A genius plan indeed!

Free Mystery Shopper by Ipoh Boy - The Conspiracy or Total Coincident of 7-Eleven's Slurpee Shutdown?

Every Thursday used to be good for U-Mobile users because it was the TERER THURSDAY, which was also the day for freebies collection. When it first started, I could easily scoop a reward around 8am - 9 am. But, as time went by, the collection of reward had became so challenging, because nowadays within 8 - 8:15 am, the rewards would be fully grabbed! Because at my place (up up and above 10 storeys), my U Mobile signal was hardly strong nor fast, especially after 6pm and before 9 am. You can imagine the patience I needed to claim these rewards!

How to be a winner tip#4: Chilam Crazy Hour Concert 2014 @ Bukit Jalil

It was that moment, I knew that I had won something awesome! (Even though, this was a bit far out of date). But, as a consistent (no bragging > <) winner, I need to share out my tips! (^^) . This time around I won a pair of Chilam Crazy Hour Concert 2014 @ Bukit Jalil, well, not entirely me though!

Deliciously Bizarre Snow Beer, Restoran 2008 Snow Beer @ Cheras

The last time I went, was really really a while ago. But, the taste of the beer and other food still linger strongly in my brain and my tastebuds. The emerge of snow beer was quite long ago, but at this moment, not many snow beer restaurants actually survive. Restoran 2008 Snow Beer, is however an exceptionally. (This place is awesome for night owls too~ open until 130am)

How to be a winner tip#3: Ipad Mini Awesome Win!

Awesome Heng Kee Bak Kut Teh (兴记肉骨茶) @ Petaling Jaya Old Town

The origin of Bak Kut Teh (BKT) (肉骨茶) until today is still unclear, though, it is pretty much a famous Chinese delicacy. According to Wikipedia, there is even a power struggle/ debate on the origin of Bak Kut Teh between Malaysia and Singapore (which I think is pointless). To me, good foodie is not about origin, it's about how you integrate and improve the origins. Hahaha, Bak Kut Teh is a direct translation from Hokkien, known meat bone tea. But, it's said to be a fusion of Hokkien and Teochew food. Oh well, for those who have no idea (which is very unlikely for Chinese), BKT is mainly cooked with pork ribs, intestines, meat with a unique broth made up of different herbs and spices......Today, it is fatty Ipoh Boy, wondered into Petaling Jaya Old Town but not Klang (renowned for BKT), for an awesome Heng Kee Bak Kut Teh (兴记肉骨茶).

Kinta Riverfront Exploration of City of Light

Following the footstep of I-City in Shah Alam, Ipoh has its own City of Light at the Kinta Riverfront. It was just after dinner, me and my family had nothing much in our hands. We just decided to have a visit at the Kinta Riverfront. On a Saturday night, .......

S.Wine @ Publika

It is S(Dot)WINE, not Swine. HAHAHA, in fact, as me and my friends were heading to Publika, we were kinda surprised to see that, our government actually approved this name. Anyway, as mentioned, today, we are going through a post of great pork dishes!

Perfect Day Trip in Ipoh (怡保) and Pulau Pangkor (邦咯岛) [Part 2]

As resumed from the previous [part 1], the journey continued further down the mystical island, where there was plenty of sunshines and breezes that day. Indeed it was a great day to visit Pulau Pangkor. It had been quite some time since we visited any beaches. As the car drove by a beautiful beach area, we parked by the roadside where ample parking spots were provided. Only then, we noticed by the beach, there lied a beautiful temple called Lin Je Kong Temple (灵慈宫).

Perfect Day Trip in Ipoh (怡保) and Pulau Pangkor (邦咯岛) [Part 1]

Ever since leaving university life, working life for everyone most probably has been overwhelming, with so much to do and with so little time. But, what if, time can be well-managed in a way you can't think of! In fact following my plan, not only you can enjoy both Ipoh ((怡保) and also a nearby famous island, Pulau Pangkor (邦咯岛). Below is the itinerary for a day with besties:

Ben's @ Bangsar Shopping Complex

Bangsar Shopping Complex (BSC) has been a well-known posh mall in Kuala Lumpur area. Because I used to work in this area, I am kinda familiar with this place. Anyhow, Ben's was opened about 3 - 4 years ago in BSC, and I would say the decoration of the restaurant was superb, classy and out of the kind!

How to be a winner tip#2: GSC Movie Vouchers

#2: Be followers on official companies/ brands in apps like instagram, facebook, Line, Wechat and others

As I was very pre-occupied with my study and laboratory work last time, I still could make time to join a few contests. In this particular win, it was an e-voucher for GSC movie, which was from a lucky draw in facebook apps. Hahaha, I was happy enough to use to watch Wonder Woman, the hottest summer movie of 2017 (you can indeed check my review here too). Indeed, it saved about RM 19 for a movie. Seriously, nowadays, never thought that movie watching can be that expensive!

Traditional Porridge, by Hung Wang (汉元) @ Ipoh

Ipoh, as a world renowned foodie heaven, is often publicized for its delicious beansprout chicken noodles, salted chicken, chicken floss noodles, Cantonese dim sum, seafood, taufu fah and many more. But, to native Ipohrians, Ipoh Boy (me), there are so many other good food apart from the mentioned ones. A very local-known foodie, the traditional Teochew porridge in Ipoh, Hung Wang or 汉元 Restaurant,  has been overlooked by some locals and other foreigners.....

Manis - Earn Points from Your Used Receipt/Bill

(reference code) https://manis.app.link/FkOQp1J5FD (reference code)

Since last year, I came across the Manis apps, which could be used to earn points from the used receipt/ bill. As can be seen, the Manis apps developer gives clear instruction on how to snap the pictures of your receipts. However, early this year, they changed the rule of 24 hour time frame to within the same day (before midnight) ........ This was totally inconvenient to me (and to other users too)......After a busy day, I usually take a bath and sleep. This rule is a big NONO to me.

Chinese New Year Celebration @ Gao Ren Guan (高人馆) Jaya One

Okie, I know I know, Chinese New Year celebration, was super long ago. Backlogging syndrome has been quite serious nowadays because I was so busy with my studies last time. Now, I have a bit of myself time and start to update more. There are just so many stories pending, but I am taking my own sweet time! This time around, CNY, my coursemate and I went a Chinese Restaurant, Gao Ren Guan (高人馆), at Jaya One.

Wonder Woman 2017: The Rise and The Fall

Ever since Wonder Woman (WW) played by Gal Gadot (GG) first appeared in the DC's Batman versus Superman (which was awful), she instantly stole the spotlight with a mere less than 10 mins of screen time. You could feel her strong presence. Of course, that was basically the spark for her own fiery Wonder Woman Movie 2017. I went to watch the greatly-rated movie in 2017 and here was my thought......<disclaimer: All images were obtained from online source, please contact me via email>

KhunThai 坤泰 Thai Restaurant @ Gasing

Ipohboy has extended his foodie region, into Petaling Jaya Area. This round, Ipohboy became round at pretty nice Thai Food Restaurant, Khunthai @ Gasing.

No Hassle Day Trip @ Kuala Sepetang (十八丁), Perak

The beauty of Perak, has often been represented by Ipoh, the Hill City. The tourists flock to Ipoh for its amazing architecturally-aesthetic old town, panoramic mountain view and of course, its heavenly food and drinks. Indeed, Perak is an amazing state in Malaysia. Now, I am not going to talk about my hometown today, but a nice place nearby Ipoh - Kuala Sepetang (十八丁), formerly knowns as Port Weld. It is about 1 hour drive from Ipoh ~ A nice getaway for people who like to experience this coastal town.

Let me present a very simple day trip plan for those who are interested to just go for leisure. Our case was we had a bunch of people on the road along with a cute baby. Thus, we could not be going for over-adventurous journey. The itinerary for the day trip was as follows:

Zakka Loft @ Ipoh

The phobia of writing still persists, after I have temporarily stopped writing my Ph.D thesis for about 2 weeks. Today, I finally picked up my weakening courage and wrote this post. It just took a lot of my might to revive my blogger life - take photos, select photos, edit photos, watermark photos and upload them to this post.

In fact, to decide what to write, was far more challenging than I thought. I was thinking of writing my Europe trip sage with bitchy travelmate, or just writing all my "abuse" during my Ph.Dship. But, at the very last min, I decided to write what I love the most in my life - Food! What is more representing of myself - Ipoh Food !

Zakka Loft @ Ipoh

My impression of this Loft - " A fusion of funky and hippy cultures with a touch of art "

A Nightmare on Elm Street, From the Worst to the Best (1984 - 1994)

Blood and gore, ear-bursting screams and rapid heartbeats, with plot-twist and suspension, are the dreams come true for horror/ thriller movies lovers! In every every early days, humans are basically uncivilised. Even with evolution, part of us are still drenched with violence. Anyhow, I AM NOT PROMOTING VIOLENCE! SAY NO TO VIOLENCE, especially the abuse on man, woman, baby, children and animal.

Before I get way out of hand of my humanitarian side, I shall go back to today's topic on the series of movies, which started out as a very simple, low-cost and slasher's type of movie, A Nightmare on Elm Street.

I was not even born, when the first movie came out in 1984. But, eventually, this low-budgeted movie not only became a cult of the centuries, it is still being remade! Anyhow, the review will be presented from the worst to be the best, from 1984 - 1994.

Full Winner Oscar 2017 - The Rekindle of Lala Land

The distance between my current post (2017) and previous post (2016) was a year, but more exactly 2 months ago. How time plays humans, just like the time in Lala Land. If you have not watched Lala, you must have a catch! Because to different people, this movie means very different perspective and interpretation. My first 2017 post is about award, oh yes, give me lucky charm!

Before going to Lala Land review, let's congratulation Lala Land on its success in 89th Oscar 2017. And, my prediction on Your Name (君の名は) was spot on! But, seriously, Zootopia? Anyway, the full winner list of Oscar 2017 is as follow:
